Overview

Overview

Damodar Kunda Helitour is the famous Hindu religious tour to the holy lake called Damodar Kunda lies in the upper Mustang of the Annapurna Circuit Range between Kagbeni and Muktinath at an elevation of 4890m. Damodar Kunda Lake falls in the rain-shadow area of the North Himalayas and is considered to be Holy Lake for the Hindu religion. Also, Damodar Lake is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. However, Damodar Kunda is not only a sacred site for Hindus but also has many beautiful views to offer like a panoramic view of the Himalayan range and dramatic landscape.

First, let’s understand a brief mythological background about the site from the Hindu religion’s perspective. Holy scripture is known as Barah Puran clearly mentions that Damodar Kunda is the auspicious head of the God Vishnu (God of creation) laying in a reclining position. And in the scriptures, God Krishna stated that whoever visits Damodar Kunda Darshan and takes a deep bath in Damodar Kunda shall be free from sins. At the same time, Muktinath is considered the mouth of the God Vishnu referred to as attaining salvation and freedom. Likewise, particular locations in Nepal from the Himalayan Range to lower belts of Nepal are referred to as Vishnu’s other body parts.

First, the helicopter takes off projecting a spectacular Arial view of Pokhara with beautiful colored houses along the placid and serene Fewa Lake, diverse landscape, colorful villages, and valleys along with reverberating Annapurna Conservation Area. Similarly, as a Damodar Helitour gains little altitude, the magnificent and splendid view of the Himalayas stretched from east to west can be captured for your lifetime experience. Inarguably, the magnificent mountains like Mt. Machapuchre (6993m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) Annapurna I (8091m), Lamjung Kailas, and many other snow-capped mountains can be sighted during Helitours.

Damodar Kunda Helitour offers remarkable views of the Tibetan landscape, Damodar Himal, Muktinath Himal, Annapurna chain of mountains, and beautiful Buddhist monasteries. Meanwhile, travelers explore the site they also take deep-bath in Damodar Kunda either religiously or for enjoyment. Hindus consider taking bath as an experience of sacramental divinity to reach salvation and be sin-free.
