Overview

Gurung Heritage trek is the cultural trek to the village of one of the well-known fearsome fighters for their bravery since World War II. Gurung community is the Mongolian Tibetan ethnic group mostly residing in the mountains with difficult terrains. Gurung people have their own culture, festivals, dress, food and traditions. Trek to Gurung Heritages is a unique experience of culture and tradition in Nepal.

Apart from the cultural aspect, the trek to Ghale Gaun (Gurung village-2016m) is also infamous for its majestic Himalayan views that stretch to Bouddha Himal (6692m), Himalchuli Himal (7317m), Mt. Manaslu (8156m) to the northeast, Annapurna(8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Mt. Lamjung (6988m) and Mt. Machhapucchre (6693m). The trail exclusively blends the beautiful landscape and culture between the two major picturesque rivers; Marsyangdhi River in the east and the Madi River in the southwest.

The Gurung community dominates four major villages Thunsikot, Ghale Gaun, Pas Gaun and Bhujung. Likewise, these villages are incredibly beautiful along with the heart touching culture. The beautiful smiles welcome trekkers in their home which makes the village and culture even more attractive. Along with lodges, homestays are quite popular in these heritage areas with basic amenities available for guests. During the stays in a culturally rich Gurung village, guests are welcomed with garlands and given farewell with traditional dances and musical instruments.

Uniquely, Ghale Gaun is crafted with 95 styles of homes representing the distinctive culture of the Gurungs casting the extravaganza of splendid Himalayan Peaks. Meanwhile, trekkers live the Gurung culture and traditions to the fullest and enjoy every evening at night stays. Gurung community of Nepal is Mongolian ethnic people who are the national trust for nature conservation (NTNC) and the Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP) introduce The rich Gurung culture. These people are known in the world because of their bravery during World War II under the British army. These people have their culture language, traditions. This trekking starts from sikless in Kaski district and passes through tanting, ghale gaun ending at Besisahar.

Trip Itinerary

Your trip day starts today when you arrive to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Upon your arrival, you will be received by our representative at the airport. He will be carrying a signboard with our company’s name on it. Then you will be transferred to the tour hotel and checked in. A trip briefing will follow later today and the time will be notified to you by the representative who picks you up from the airport. We will come to meet and brief you about the trip at the fixed time. Until then just relax or explore a bit of the surrounding.

We'll embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besishahar, which takes around 5-6 hours. Our private or tourist bus will guide us along the way, passing by the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers. We'll spend the night in Besishahar and share another wonderful meal (B/L/D).

Today, after breakfast, we'll lace up our hiking boots to Ghale Gaun. Ghale Gaun is a Gurung settlement nestled amidst stunning natural beauty, including mountains, waterfalls, forests, and rivers. The trek is a fantastic experience, filled with morning mists, rhododendrons, and bird songs. Enjoy the breathtaking views before we spend the night in a warm and welcoming homestay,B/L/D.

Our path leads us to Bhujung, an easy hike with beautiful scenery and quaint Nepalese villages. You'll pass a school built by dedicated tourists and locals. Bhujung is home to a large Gurung community with 400 houses. While homestay aren't available here, you can stay in one of the lodges. You'll have a chance to sing, dance, and have a good time with the locals while savoring local wine. Overnight in Bhujung.B/L/D.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Bhujung and moved on to Passgaun. You'll pass through scenic farmlands, spot waterfalls, and venture into the jungle, where you might hear wild animals. This is a packed lunch day as there are no tea houses on this route. The trek takes you to the highest point at 2500 meters, and from there, you'll walk down, passing many villages and beautiful landscapes. Passgaun is reminiscent of Ghalegaun, with 60 charming houses overnight in a warm and welcoming homestay.B/L/D.

After a delicious breakfast at the homestay, get ready for an adventurous day. You'll have lunch at Bagaiecha/Garden, where you can dip in the river. The journey takes you through beautiful villages, forests, and unique landscapes, and you'll reach Rabidada to rest before continuing. The Gurung community in Pakhrikot will warmly welcome you. Spend the night in a cozy homestay, B/L/D.

This is the final day of your trek. After breakfast, you'll walk to Thumsikot, down the hill from Pakhrikot. After about 3 hours of walking, you'll reach Thumsikot, where you'll catch a bus to Pokhara (a 3-hour ride). Enjoy your last night at a comfortable lodge, B/L/D.


Your journey toward drive from Thumsikot to the picturesque lake city of Pokhara.


Today after breakfast in Pokhara we will a boating trip on the lake, Sightseeing tour of some places like Davis falls, Gupteswor cave etc. A free half day in Pokhara to do some adventure sports like paragliding, zip flying, ultra-light flight, bungee jumping etc. The day’s adventure sports activities will be at an extra cost. We will be happy to organize those extra activities for you, should you choose to do any. Or simply take your leisurely time on your own to get some massage, strolling around lakeside, shopping etc

Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. Have an option to fly back at an extra cost. Take some leisurely walk around once you reach Kathmandu and check into hotel.
